Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo G. Singleton (Retired), Civil Affairs Officer

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Ricardo G. Singleton, who is a Mount Vernon, New York resident and a 1974 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, had been a member of the United States Army for 40 years. He first enlisted into the Army in 1974, and served for seven and a half years on active duty.   He obtained his commission as a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officers Training Corp (ROTC) at Fordham University, Bronx, New York, in 1985.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Singleton's, last tour of duty was in Laghman, Afghanistan, where he was the Deputy Commanding Officer of the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), a unit introduced by the United States Government, consisting of military officers, diplomats, and reconstruction subject matter experts, working to support reconstruction efforts in unstable areas of Afghanistan.

His most recent tour of duty is just one of many military operations he has participated in. Such as, he has supported Operation Desert shield/Desert Storm, served in Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Singleton was a Civil Affairs Officer and the recipient of two Bronze Stars, a Joint Service Commendation Service Medal, Two Department of State Meritorious Honors Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, eight Army Reserve Components Achievement Medals; He also has been awarded Airborne Wings (ABN), and Air Assault Wings (AASLT).

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Singleton belongs to many organizations. He is the Commander and a life member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6396, Mount Vernon, New York, He is a life member of the American Legion Post 274 in Peekskill, New York, a member of the Adelphic Union Masonic Lodge#14, New York, New York, a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Westchester/Bronx Chapter, A Minister at the St. Catherine A.M.E. Zion Church, New Rochelle, New York,  a life member of The Reserve Officer's Association, a life member of the Civil Affairs Association, and a life member of The Pershing Rifles, Company D8, of Fordham University, he is a life member of Disabled Veterans of America (DAV), and finally he is a Chaplain with the New York State Chaplain Task Force, and finally he is on a disaster, relief, team for the Red Cross.

He is single and has one daughter, Makayla, who is 7 years old, and three Yorkies: Gary, Scarlett and Olivia.
